The Weathersongs Project is looking for assistance to develop further. Help is needed as follows:

1. Location

The Weathersongs Installation is looking for a home! The only version in existence currently resides at the home of its creator, Richard Garrett, in a remote part of Wales. The project now seeks for a permanent location within easy reach of the general public.   Ideally, the installation would be located in a park or other public space where people regularly pass by. Loudspeakers should be discreetly mounted either outdoors or within some structure which, while sufficiently open to the elements for listeners to feel the weather around them, would supply adequate shelter for listening during storms!

Hopefully, once the installation finds a permanent home, local people will, over time, come to recognise its varying moods and understand, at some intuitive level, more about the weather around them. Perhaps one day, passers-by will stop, listen to the music and think: “Ah, the sun will shine today”.

2. Funding

Each instance of the installation requires, at least, a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, a PC, and some audio equipment. Since the current hardware is needed for other phases of the project, some funding would be required in order to build new, public, installations.

3. Data As part of the third phase of the project, "Days in the Life", Richard would be very interested in contacting other Vantage Pro users who have data-loggers and would be prepared to donate some of their data to the project. Initially, the aim would be to run several one-day data sets through the non-real time element of the program to produce pieces of music that each reflect a day in the life of a particular place on the Earth
