Days in the Life: Non-real Time Weather Music

The third stage of the Weathersongs will be to use the datalogger element of the Davis Instruments Weather Station to record changes in the weather over set time periods (say, single days). The collected information will then sonified using a Max/MSP program, and the resulting music played back over a shorter time period, probably reducing one day to six minutes.

The plan is that collections of these "Days In the Life" will be made into audio CDs, each CD containing twelve "days" composed over one year in a specific geographical location. The first location will probably be in Wales, but hopefully other weather station users will contribute data sets for other places around the planet.

If you have weather station data that you would like to contribute to the project, please go to the sponsorship page.

The software for this element is currently under development. When it is finished, examples of the finished pieces will be published on this website. If you would like to be informed when this happens, then please subscribe to the mailing list (see contact page).
